Jed + Ayn Wedding Highlights (SDE) and Photos

It was the 10th of June 5:30am in the morning the mighty Sun is about to rise, me and my crew were scheduled to shoot the drone shot and some establishing shots of the church (Presentation of the Child Jesus) at BF Holmes. As soon at we set-up the gear the sky doesn’t seem to agree with us, then as we shot the first few minutes of video it started to rain. I think to myself that this will be a very interesting wedding day. Continue reading

Prenatal Photography – Jenny and Kae

Prenatal Photography – Baby Kailin’s  First Ultrasound

Me and my wife didn’t know that she’s with child until last December, and it’s already been 3 months. Despite all the very physical photo/video projects that we did together (since September) I was amazed that she and the baby were fine. She also didn’t suspected it ’cause she always had an irregular monthly cycle (I won’t elaborate) and everything seems normal. We already decided what name to give her, Kailin – old Celtic name meaning Keeper of Keys and pure; and Jei – open-mindedness, traveler and one that craves for knowledge (like Mum and Dad), together it’s Kailin Jei  (sounds very Asian, hehe), I guess we’ll just call her Kai for short. We’re all excited to meet the new member of the family. All the routine check-ups show that all vital was A-Okay and we’re just thankful that we’re having a new baby. Hope you enjoy the photos. Can’t wait to see HER. Cheers!

Product Photography – KHE Bikes Components

KHE Bikes BMX Components (Germany)

KHE Bikes BMX Components (Germany)

KHE Bikes (Germany) is one of the BMX brands I grew up with including big names like Haro, GT, Dyno, SE PK Ripper, Odyssey and Mongoose. Many years ago quality BMX parts were very scarce in my place so I settle for generic, unbranded ones that doesn’t last long in terms of quality and if ever there were branded ones it will definitely be very expensive and my puny high school allowance won’t cut it. Need to really save money or skip lunch to get me a nice shiny pair Alex Rims or an Odyssey RX5 brake levers (remember that?). Anyhow fast forward today, I had the chance to take product shots of KHE Bikes components for Flipbykes BMX Shop www.flipbykes.com with two (2) flash set-up with both having soft boxes. I used the Aurora Dragonfly Octagon shape lightbox, a Rime Lite square softbox  and a thick black paper roll for background. No fancy lighting system here just a very straight-forward easy-to-do CLS set-up. Continue reading

Kae at Her Grand Dad’s Birthday (photos + video)

Kirsten Jae

Kirsten Jae “Kae” with her pretty big eye and sweet smile

I had the chance to shoot some photos and videos of my father-in-law’s 58th birthday celebration last January. Actually it was a double celebration of his birthday and their (w/ mother-in-law) wedding anniversary. It was a late celebration ’cause we only can visit them a week later the actual date. It was a good day for all of us my parents and my wife’s (Jenny) parents have a time to bond before my in-laws go back to Italy. One big happy extended family. Hope you like the photos and video, Kae sure did enjoy posing in front of the camera.

Alter Bridge – Singapore Rock Fest 2014

Alter Bridge – Singapore Rock Fest 2014

I don’t really miss Creed and I think it’s better that they don’t bother reuniting ever again. The new line-up is way more cooler than the former line-up. Songs are more deeper not that catchy (as Creed) which is good in a way. I just hope I don’t see KTV machines  flooded with Alter Bridge songs. Most likely that a Creed song will be sang on a KTV bar (bet my a$$ on that) 3 out of 10 guy will do. It’s a good thing that Alter Bridge’s sound is an acquired taste of music – either you love it or hate it specially for the fans of the old Creed. I think they’re awesome and damn good musicians, can’t wait to see them again. Here are some photos of day two March 6, Singapore Rock Fest 2014.

Rob Zombie – Singapore Rock Fest 2014

Rob Zombie crowd photo – Singapore Rock Fest 2014

Rob Zombie was first known as the lead vocals of White Zombie which actually sounds similar to his later songs minus the gimmicks. One example is the song Thunder Kiss ’65 which is from the early White Zombie album titled “La Sexocristo: Devil Music Volume 1”. Rob Zombie’s song has a more industrial metal and electronica combined sound to it with matching horror or shock rock imagery. Continue reading

Korn – Singapore Rock Fest 2014

The comeback of Korn’s guitarist Brian “Head” Welsh

March 5, 2014 is a very special date for me and for most people who lived on the mid-90’s which is my college years. Korn and White Zombie were the main feature on MTV’s Headbangers Ball and on Beavis and Butthead. Maybe most of younger ones doesn’t know the significance of Korn and White Zombie in the scene, they revolutionized (or modernized) Metal and brought Metal to the mainstream. Some might think this was a wrong move from them ‘coz these two juggernauts of Nu Metal have a very strong underground fan base before they became “Rock Stars”.

Five Finger Death Punch – Singapore Rock Festival 2014

Five Finger Death Punch – Singapore Rock Festival 2014

This guys are awesome. They reminded me of Pantera, very Southern… the eagle on the backdrop is a dead give away. The music not quite ‘coz their style is more of Southern Metal rather than Groove Metal like Pantera or Throwdown. The music is more inclined to the likes of Godsmack and Disturbed more formulaic. I also like bands with mascots like Iron Maiden’s “Eddie the Head” and Megadeth’s Vic Rattlehead, if you haven’t notice the skeleton character on their artwork is their legendary mascot named “Knucklehead”. Framed Memories – Past and Present

Kirsten Jae on a hammock at my Parent’s house – Balungao Calumpit

Whenever I go back to my hometown I always forget to take a single photo of where I grew up. I always finish a photo project or a video project but regretfully forget to snap a photo of the greatest thing in my childhood. This place always gives me a sense of solace. I don’t feel rushed and stressed out when I’m there. I can definitely kick back relax and enjoy the view or the moment. Maybe I can only say it because I’m on vacation but I really feel that there’s something more to it than a feeling of nostalgia. Now that I’m a Dad myself I’m glad to have introduce to my daughter Kirsten Jae the place where I played, got dirty, broke a bone, bitten by a dog, climbed, fell and got scolded. Continue reading

Flipbykes BMX Team 2014

Flipbykes Team - Migs Serbanda (BMX Street)

Flipbykes Team Rider – Migs Serbanda (BMX Street)

January is almost done and I haven’t even put a single post since mid-December. It’s been a busy year-end at work and other personal stuff. I’m glad to begin the year with a project that made me start photography which is BMX. A part from taking snaps of riders I also do ride on my spare time but for now I’m just the guy with camera – let the real pro-riders do their thing. I’m just happy to see how far BMX had become in the Philippines since the late 70’s. I didn’t actually witnessed the 70’s but from old photos, articles and people that told their wonderful stories on how they started in the BMX scene. How they make their own ramps like we do when we’re just kids. The schedule was very hectic and short but it was all made possible by our rider friends (Flipbykes Crew) that assisted me through the whole project. It was just a short time but all-in-all a time worth spending. For more about Flipbykes BMX Shop visit www.flipbykes.com. Without boring you any further here are the photos from the Flipbykes BMX Team photo sessions. Continue reading
