The Metalcore scene is not possible without the founding father – Earth Crisis. I’m not fond of labeling music genres but basically it’s hardcore but more heavy and metal, if it makes any sense. This band is one of my inspiration when I was in college (until now), they’re discography is still on my iTunes music list. The Victory Records Era is one of the exciting years in the hardcore and punk scene. With likes of Snapcase and Strife they took the hardcore scene by storm. It also started the “Straight Edge” vegan movement as a lifestyle and later on as a hardcore sub-genre with lyrics emphasizing on advocating animal rights and anti-global warming sentiments. As time goes by the Metalcore style music has change to the more melodic sound that we here today. If you really want to here Metalcore on its purest form pick-up the album Firestorm and listen to Earth Crisis now!!! Continue reading
If you’re a fan of Trash Metal particularly Sepultura and Soulfly you would probably would like PARIAH, well I do. I have seen their music grow and mature from covering Sepultura hits to making their own original stuff. Continue reading
A new take on the Cariño Brutal music video. This video has full of irony and gut twisting imagery through and through. It shows all the bu!!s#!t the Filipinos have to deal with every single day of their lives since the Spanish Era, World War II up to the present. Despite the regular bombardment of tragedy, natural disaster, heinous crimes, racial hatred, colonialism and corrupt politicians, the Filipinos can still wear a smile on their faces. Hope you like it, and if you do kindly share.
Memphis May Fire is the fisrt concert I shot for the year 2013 and I say it’s a great start. Summer is almost here in Southeast Asia and we need rain and it came but in a form of …fire? That is Memphis May Fire but it’s only March? Yeah I know I’m bad at jokes but seriously this band made it rain fire!
I’ve been waiting for almost 6 years for this post-hardcore band to come in Southeast Asia that’s the span of time I got My first Silverstein album – When Broken Is Easily Fixed and guess what, they did on July 12, 2011 in Singapore… duh I won’t be righting this if they haven’t. I’m a big fan I admit, I have all the albums and I know most of the songs by heart. I love the raw aggression and sometimes full of emotion songs they make. Basically all of their songs are love songs for the broken-heart(ed) that’s why sometimes they are labeled as “screamo”. I’d prefer calling them post-hardcore or in some cases – metalcore. Their sound is inline with big names in the same genre (which also my favorites) like Funeral For A Friend, Haste The Day, Hawthorne Heights, Under Oath, Story Of The Year and too may bands to mention. Technically the transition of tempos and riffs and the casual growl/scream are the highlights of most of the songs – heavy, fast and aggressive.
HATEBREED concert in Singapore is a blast!!! Seen familiar faces from different places following Hatebreed’s Southeast Asian Tour. That is hardcore life. Their next stop Philippines. Get ready to be blown away!!!
Hatebreed is a hardcore/metal band from US associated with bands like Agnostic Front, Madball, Biohazard, Earth Crisis, Downset, Vision of Disorder, Strife and many more. They cater a different audience but sometimes death metal fans also go to their gig/concerts because of the same intensity and brutality but message and principles they’re sending is different. Mostly Hardcore songs inspire people to crush oppression, push through hardships in life, fight for what’s right and destroy any kind tyranny. The songs are mostly distinguished by choruses shouted out loud by a group of people demonstrating UNITY. That is what hardcore is all about!!! HARDCORE LIVES!!!
