It’s just last month when we celebrated our 2nd daughter’s birthday, and now it’s our eldest daughter’s turn. Well I guess more cake equals more fun… and more fun it was. Few months before her birthday she already knew the theme that she wants on her school celebration which is Angry Birds (of course). Kids and adults can’t get enough of these short-tempered avian characters from the mobile app that grandma likes to play (aside from Candy Crush that is). Continue reading →
KOMYSB2015 is an annual event sponsored by the Royal Family of Alor Setar Kedah Malaysia. This event became popular to nearby countries including Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and also Japan, not because of the generous prizes but because of the camaraderie and for charity. There are sporting events like netball and street soccer, they also include cultural awareness, singing and declamation contest but the most favorite of the crowd were the extreme sporting activities like BMX stunt, BMX flatland, aggressive inline skates and wall climbing. The skate park is definitely the highlight of the event, it is one of the best skate parks in Southeast Asia. The good thing about this event is that all proceed goes to charity that helps unfortunate youths with financial problems and at the same time engaging them to a more progressive way of spending their talents and hobbies. I always turn down last minute video and photo of events more so for weddings. A wedding is an important part of a couple’s life so it’s a bit tricky not to mess it up for the clients, that’s why I don’t accept a last-minute wedding shoot. My wife talked me into it and we did made through the event without any fuss, besides I love shooting weddings, telling their love story even on a brief moment is magical not just for the couple but for me and for others as well. This is not your typical church wedding or garden wedding, it’s has a more humble set-up than we usually see on videos and films. I’m still happy we’ve done it, and even in a very short notice we manage to pull it off. Hope you like this simple wedding video. If you like what you see, please do follow my work , like, subscribe or comment. Cheers!
Kirsten Jae “Kae” with her pretty big eye and sweet smile
I had the chance to shoot some photos and videos of my father-in-law’s 58th birthday celebration last January. Actually it was a double celebration of his birthday and their (w/ mother-in-law) wedding anniversary. It was a late celebration ’cause we only can visit them a week later the actual date. It was a good day for all of us my parents and my wife’s (Jenny) parents have a time to bond before my in-laws go back to Italy. One big happy extended family. Hope you like the photos and video, Kae sure did enjoy posing in front of the camera.
I don’t really miss Creed and I think it’s better that they don’t bother reuniting ever again. The new line-up is way more cooler than the former line-up. Songs are more deeper not that catchy (as Creed) which is good in a way. I just hope I don’t see KTV machines flooded with Alter Bridge songs. Most likely that a Creed song will be sang on a KTV bar (bet my a$$ on that) 3 out of 10 guy will do. It’s a good thing that Alter Bridge’s sound is an acquired taste of music – either you love it or hate it specially for the fans of the old Creed. I think they’re awesome and damn good musicians, can’t wait to see them again. Here are some photos of day two March 6, Singapore Rock Fest 2014.
January is almost done and I haven’t even put a single post since mid-December. It’s been a busy year-end at work and other personal stuff. I’m glad to begin the year with a project that made me start photography which is BMX. A part from taking snaps of riders I also do ride on my spare time but for now I’m just the guy with camera – let the real pro-riders do their thing. I’m just happy to see how far BMX had become in the Philippines since the late 70’s. I didn’t actually witnessed the 70’s but from old photos, articles and people that told their wonderful stories on how they started in the BMX scene. How they make their own ramps like we do when we’re just kids. The schedule was very hectic and short but it was all made possible by our rider friends (Flipbykes Crew) that assisted me through the whole project. It was just a short time but all-in-all a time worth spending. For more about Flipbykes BMX Shop visit www.flipbykes.com. Without boring you any further here are the photos from the Flipbykes BMX Team photo sessions. Continue reading →
Will and Vanessa Wedding Reception @ The White Rabbit Singapore
At long last our buddy Will and his long time partner Vanessa finally tied the knot. Congratulations to both of them. Here are sample photos from the wedding reception. All taken with Nikon 85mm f1.4G. I really love this lens!!! Now it’s one of my favorite along side Nikon 70-200mm F2.8G VRII and the Nikon 105mm F2.8G Micro VR lenses. The Nikon 50mm f1.4G still have a special place in my heart but the 85mm beats it in may ways. My only gripe is that the auto focus is hit and miss specially on low-light. The Nikon 70-200mm F2.8G VRII is is the winner in terms of focus but the 85mm is darn bokehlicious!!! Continue reading →
Another rainy Sunday evening and we’re about to hit the sack. Jenny and Kae were playing “Monkey Ball” on Kae’s tablet and they’re having so much fun I realized why not freeze the moment. Before Kae realizes what’s going on (’cause she really hates the camera) I quickly grab my cam and shoot away. Our room light is not as bright so I crank up my ISO to 2000, shoot with an aperture of F2.8. Even though I stop down at F2.8 from the widest F1.4, it’s still considered wide. I guess F4 would be the ideal aperture for this kind of shot. I can see some softness on the shot making Jenny’s eyelashes the sharpest part of the photo and Kae’s face a bit soft. Oh and the shutter speed is 1/50 of a second. I took probably 6 shots but this one says it all plus converting it to black and white made it a Kodak Moment in this case a Nikon Moment.
My daughter Kirsten Jae is one of the hardest subject I’ve ever shot. She is never still like the Energizer Bunny. I think she hates the camera. Whenever she was told to look at the camera, she do faces or shake her head to purposely blur my shots as if she knows that my shutter speed is low and my aperture wide-open. Seems like she is mocking me that I would never get her pretty picture. So I waited hang around with her while the camera is on my side, waiting for the right moment to strike like a lion stalking a gazette – That is a good metaphor. The glow coming from a morning sunlight gave it a fresh innocent looking effect. Hope you like the photos. Cheers!
