It’s just last month when we celebrated our 2nd daughter’s birthday, and now it’s our eldest daughter’s turn. Well I guess more cake equals more fun… and more fun it was. Few months before her birthday she already knew the theme that she wants on her school celebration which is Angry Birds (of course). Kids and adults can’t get enough of these short-tempered avian characters from the mobile app that grandma likes to play (aside from Candy Crush that is). Continue reading →
I’ll be smirking when I see Moms and Dads acting like lunatics when their kids are performing on stage. I told myself that I would never be like them Stage Fathers and Mothers pushing their kids to perform. Well I guess this is how it feels like being one. It felt like I’m the one on the spot, anxious and at the same time feeling proud of my daughter performing on stage. I don’t really worry about her having mistakes, that’s where good memories are made – beautiful flaws in life makes the perfect Kodak moment. This post is a bit late but still worth sharing. Hope you enjoy this video. Credits to my wife for doing the B-roll shots. Cheers!
Another rainy Sunday evening and we’re about to hit the sack. Jenny and Kae were playing “Monkey Ball” on Kae’s tablet and they’re having so much fun I realized why not freeze the moment. Before Kae realizes what’s going on (’cause she really hates the camera) I quickly grab my cam and shoot away. Our room light is not as bright so I crank up my ISO to 2000, shoot with an aperture of F2.8. Even though I stop down at F2.8 from the widest F1.4, it’s still considered wide. I guess F4 would be the ideal aperture for this kind of shot. I can see some softness on the shot making Jenny’s eyelashes the sharpest part of the photo and Kae’s face a bit soft. Oh and the shutter speed is 1/50 of a second. I took probably 6 shots but this one says it all plus converting it to black and white made it a Kodak Moment in this case a Nikon Moment.
My daughter Kirsten Jae is one of the hardest subject I’ve ever shot. She is never still like the Energizer Bunny. I think she hates the camera. Whenever she was told to look at the camera, she do faces or shake her head to purposely blur my shots as if she knows that my shutter speed is low and my aperture wide-open. Seems like she is mocking me that I would never get her pretty picture. So I waited hang around with her while the camera is on my side, waiting for the right moment to strike like a lion stalking a gazette – That is a good metaphor. The glow coming from a morning sunlight gave it a fresh innocent looking effect. Hope you like the photos. Cheers!
A boring Sunday afternoon just woke up from a nap and suddenly and urge to make a pancake video? What’s up with that? Maybe just a good opportunity to try my new Kamerar Slider and Dolly (2-in-1) before trying it on something more serious. It’s a good buy for what it can do. Build quality is superb something you wont expect from a China-made product but I can say this is an exception. Kamerar is an American brand (known for video rigs and equipment) but to make cost a bit lower China is the best way to go and I’m glad they do. Hope you enjoy the short film. Try it on 1080p HD. Cheers!
This is one of my personal project that I’m itching to do for a long time. I had a lot of fun doing this themed photo shoot and Kirsten Jae (Baby Kae) is so cute with her ragged outfit. She never gave any problem while shooting, she just roam around like a “Vagabond Child”, very innocent and full of life. It’s really heartbreaking to see a child stripped off all the convenience in life and force to beg on the streets. Continue reading →
Last time we went to the Zoo Kae is still very small and she did’t actually appreciate the animals there but now she knows almost all the names of the animals well at least all the characters of MADAGASCAR.
It was also an opportunity to put my manual focusing skills to the test. My Nikon D700 batteries where drained from my last interior photography shoot (very irresponsible of me) so I brought along my Canon 60D with my Nikon 24-70mm f2.8G lens and a Novoflex Nikkor G lens to Canon EOS mount adapter (whew that’s long). One day at the office I received and email from my senior high schoolmate and asking me to vote for her son. I followed the instructions and voted. I replied “done” – informing her that I already voted. I went to the contest website of Little Pepo and saw the mechanics. Sounds interesting. I have no plan in sending Baby Kirsten Jae’s photo but my wife insisted. I said I will but I won’t get involved in any way. She agreed on our small talk and submitted Baby Kirsten Jae’s Photo. After few minutes or so they already uploaded the photo of Kirsten Jae on Little Pepo Facebook page. I’m the first to vote. I informed my wife and start her campaign for the Cutest Baby Contest 2011. As I follow the progress of votes I was drawn to it by some invisible force, I can’t resist the urge to promote my little angel. Now I know how it feels like to be a stage father. This will be an interesting and exciting game. If you’ll read some comments you’ll see that things are getting pretty hot on the parents side exchanging comments on how cute their babies are (love your own), different strategies and campaign. Let’s all remember that this is only a game, not much is at stake here only a custom design t-shirt with the baby’s name, top 3 babies will be features on Little Pepo’s website and most important the parent’s pride (priceless). All in all its an exciting game for the parents and a fun contest to participate in (even though the babies have no idea what the heck is going on). Continue reading →
