Manny Librodo’s Boudoir and Beyond 2014

Manny Librodo’s BOUDOIR & BEYOND SINGAPORE 2014 – Youtube

This photography workshop was the 222nd of Manuel “Manny” Librodo. Imagine how many people he had inspired throughout the years. The press releases and testimonials about him proves that he’s not just an awesome photographer but a people person as well. A cool guy if you know him and a true mentor, knowing that he’s a full-time teacher (in an international school in Bangkok) makes his workshop more upbeat and efficient – the reason why people are coming back for more. The experience they get from each and every workshop is very different from one another. For the  patrons it’s not just about learning photography but a camaraderie that leads to a good relationship with Manny and the crew. Definitely there will be more workshops to come and I’ve heard that a book will be publish soon, better watch out for that. This workshop was organized by the hard working  Team of Walls and Frames in cooperation with MOE.

The Aftermath – Manny Librodo Workshop 2011

It was a rainy morning of April 2, 2011. Actually the rain woke me up. Four of us on the hotel room which they call “Kampong Huts”. I didn’t get enough sleep because the dinner ended a bit late. I felt bad for my roommates they probably got less sleep than I did because I snore like hell (Hahaha). 6:00 am we had our quick breakfast then headed out to our assigned posts. It’s time for us to assist “The Man” Manny Librodo – known for his distinctive style of vividness, details and landscape of textures. With him is the beautiful Kharu – you’ll never get enough of her beauty. This lady can reinvent herself on every shoot just amazing, she also does he own make-up.

Rocky Gathercole wowed us with his awesome haute couture designs. I’ve never seen anything like it it’s just surreal. Another model graced us with her presence – Alexia Giensen, also a lovely model. Jacky Forster (former Philippine actress) suppose to do make-up turned out to being one of the model for the afternoon session. There’s also the head make-up artist – Jacqie Agabon surprise us with her artistic make-up styling. Not to forget the brain behind all this – Xilver Claire Events headed by Calay de Pedro. Good thing the rain stopped just before the first shoot. It’s still drizzling but still bearable (thank god for the weather sealing). Continue reading

Natalia Taffarel – High End Beauty & Fashion Retouching Workshop

Some purist photographers might raise their eyebrows when others (including me) talks about post-processing in photography. Some say it’s graphic design not photography; some might say it’s against what they new about “natural” photography; some crazy people might say that it’s the way of the devil (just kidding) and the ranting goes on and on. Most professional photographers doesn’t do image retouching but their photo ends up on a poster, magazine or books retouched anyways (the irony of life). There are professionals that do the retouching or post processing for photographers like Natalia Taffarel and she is the best of what she does. Okay you might hate me for saying this but post-processing, retouching or editing your photos gives you and your photos identity (in a very distinctive way). Now we’re on the digital era a lot of competition out there who’s eager to pound everything that you can do and offer so instead of hiring a graphic artist/designer you have to do your own retouching, besides you don’t want your ugly photos ending up on the wrong hands do you? (hehehe). Enough of my babbling. I was ask to support a friend for this workshop and I believe that pros and new comers in photography and also graphic designers will learn a lot from this so I post it here on my blog. I, myself will attend on this once in a lifetime opportunity to meet Natalia Taffarel because I’ve heard that she seldom do workshops in Asia so wherever you are hope you could come!!!
The Interview
Learn more about Natalia Taffarel and how she started photo retouching from a hobby to a full blown career. I Admire people like her because most of what she does now are all self-thought. There is no special magic to this – it’s all about dedication and love of what you are doing.
