It’s always a pleasure to do a photo shoot or a video shoot of a friends baby turning a year old. This is the one of many spacial moments in a family’s life specially for new parents. You can see the excitement in their eyes and I can relate to it because I have two young ones of my own and I know the feeling. Continue reading →
We have a saying that a baby is a blessing, and I guess it’s true, this new life brings joy to the couple, the family and the people surrounding it. It’s always a joy to capture this moment that is truly a miracle. I’m not a sentimental person but bearing a child is the most wonderful thing in the world. I’m just glad to have shot this lovely couple and their soon-to-be child that happens to be my Godson. I apologize for the late posting. Hope you enjoy the photos. Continue reading →
Kirsten Jae “Kae” with her pretty big eye and sweet smile
I had the chance to shoot some photos and videos of my father-in-law’s 58th birthday celebration last January. Actually it was a double celebration of his birthday and their (w/ mother-in-law) wedding anniversary. It was a late celebration ’cause we only can visit them a week later the actual date. It was a good day for all of us my parents and my wife’s (Jenny) parents have a time to bond before my in-laws go back to Italy. One big happy extended family. Hope you like the photos and video, Kae sure did enjoy posing in front of the camera.
Will and Vanessa Wedding Reception @ The White Rabbit Singapore
At long last our buddy Will and his long time partner Vanessa finally tied the knot. Congratulations to both of them. Here are sample photos from the wedding reception. All taken with Nikon 85mm f1.4G. I really love this lens!!! Now it’s one of my favorite along side Nikon 70-200mm F2.8G VRII and the Nikon 105mm F2.8G Micro VR lenses. The Nikon 50mm f1.4G still have a special place in my heart but the 85mm beats it in may ways. My only gripe is that the auto focus is hit and miss specially on low-light. The Nikon 70-200mm F2.8G VRII is is the winner in terms of focus but the 85mm is darn bokehlicious!!! Continue reading →
Another rainy Sunday evening and we’re about to hit the sack. Jenny and Kae were playing “Monkey Ball” on Kae’s tablet and they’re having so much fun I realized why not freeze the moment. Before Kae realizes what’s going on (’cause she really hates the camera) I quickly grab my cam and shoot away. Our room light is not as bright so I crank up my ISO to 2000, shoot with an aperture of F2.8. Even though I stop down at F2.8 from the widest F1.4, it’s still considered wide. I guess F4 would be the ideal aperture for this kind of shot. I can see some softness on the shot making Jenny’s eyelashes the sharpest part of the photo and Kae’s face a bit soft. Oh and the shutter speed is 1/50 of a second. I took probably 6 shots but this one says it all plus converting it to black and white made it a Kodak Moment in this case a Nikon Moment.
My daughter Kirsten Jae is one of the hardest subject I’ve ever shot. She is never still like the Energizer Bunny. I think she hates the camera. Whenever she was told to look at the camera, she do faces or shake her head to purposely blur my shots as if she knows that my shutter speed is low and my aperture wide-open. Seems like she is mocking me that I would never get her pretty picture. So I waited hang around with her while the camera is on my side, waiting for the right moment to strike like a lion stalking a gazette – That is a good metaphor. The glow coming from a morning sunlight gave it a fresh innocent looking effect. Hope you like the photos. Cheers!
For me the true essence of “Portraiture” is getting the right emotion and the truthfulness of the subject – in that case how do you shoot a corporate portrait? It seems easy when you think of it ’cause it looks like a straight-forward bust-shot or just a full body shot… not exactly! Unless you’re taking an ID Photo then you can get away with that. You don’t wanna make the client/office staff looks like the next candidate for “Awkward-Family-Photos-Dot-Com”.
This is one of my personal project that I’m itching to do for a long time. I had a lot of fun doing this themed photo shoot and Kirsten Jae (Baby Kae) is so cute with her ragged outfit. She never gave any problem while shooting, she just roam around like a “Vagabond Child”, very innocent and full of life. It’s really heartbreaking to see a child stripped off all the convenience in life and force to beg on the streets. Continue reading →
He has done it again. Multi award-winning photographer Manny Librodo is back for a stunning array of visual enlightenment in “Splash of Colours” Singapore. This workshop is just around the corner so see you all there.
Every flatland rider in Southeast Asia or even around the world knows about Groundforce and the BMX Flatland World Circuit headed by Yasuyuki Takeo. It’s been almost 4 years since the last (Moto) Groundforce – it was one of the best experience I had. Meeting with other riders I only see on magazines and videos. Seeing them in person is like a shock to me – in a good way. I become more motivated in riding. And I did ride harder after a long time of no riding (almost 3 years from 2002-2005) ’cause I was busy pursuing my career in multimedia design. I can still remember the last Groundforce and it was indeed a wondrous day. I was using a Fujifilm 602Z Pro bridge camera and it was may precious possession that time (and an Aresbykes Dita frame). Without the 602Z I wouldn’t be able to learn the things I know today in photography.
