KOMYSB2015 is an annual event sponsored by the Royal Family of Alor Setar Kedah Malaysia. This event became popular to nearby countries including Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and also Japan, not because of the generous prizes but because of the camaraderie and for charity. There are sporting events like netball and street soccer, they also include cultural awareness, singing and declamation contest but the most favorite of the crowd were the extreme sporting activities like BMX stunt, BMX flatland, aggressive inline skates and wall climbing. The skate park is definitely the highlight of the event, it is one of the best skate parks in Southeast Asia. The good thing about this event is that all proceed goes to charity that helps unfortunate youths with financial problems and at the same time engaging them to a more progressive way of spending their talents and hobbies. Kirsten Jae “Kae” with her pretty big eye and sweet smile
I had the chance to shoot some photos and videos of my father-in-law’s 58th birthday celebration last January. Actually it was a double celebration of his birthday and their (w/ mother-in-law) wedding anniversary. It was a late celebration ’cause we only can visit them a week later the actual date. It was a good day for all of us my parents and my wife’s (Jenny) parents have a time to bond before my in-laws go back to Italy. One big happy extended family. Hope you like the photos and video, Kae sure did enjoy posing in front of the camera.
Will and Vanessa Wedding Reception @ The White Rabbit Singapore
At long last our buddy Will and his long time partner Vanessa finally tied the knot. Congratulations to both of them. Here are sample photos from the wedding reception. All taken with Nikon 85mm f1.4G. I really love this lens!!! Now it’s one of my favorite along side Nikon 70-200mm F2.8G VRII and the Nikon 105mm F2.8G Micro VR lenses. The Nikon 50mm f1.4G still have a special place in my heart but the 85mm beats it in may ways. My only gripe is that the auto focus is hit and miss specially on low-light. The Nikon 70-200mm F2.8G VRII is is the winner in terms of focus but the 85mm is darn bokehlicious!!! Continue reading →
SP Jain Center of Management (Singapore) conducted an event with Dynamic Africa where ambassadors (from Africa) presented the business possibilities on Africa for foreign investors also to encourage more tourist to go there and experience the true essence of Africa. There were some live performances, fashion show presenting the different African inspired attires, skits telling about life in Africa, monologues, song and dance numbers all African inspired. As a photo assignment for an ex-deal I was suppose to just click my shutter and mind my own business but I ended up learning a lot of things and meeting interesting personalities from this event. After the program we went to the banquet hall and feast on an authentic African buffet. It was a nice experience. Africa is a humble nation (continent) but proud of it’s culture and heritage. Rich in natural resources and lovely people. I was touched how cheerful, simple and warm Africans are. I wish to go to Africa someday. Others believe life began in Africa – the true paradise on earth.
Africa According to Wiki
Africa is the world’s second-largest and second most-populous continent, after Asia. At about 30.2 million km² (11.7 million sq mi) including adjacent islands, it covers 6% of the Earth’s total surface area and 20.4% of the total land area. With 1.0 billion people (as of 2009, see table) in 61 territories, it accounts for about 14.72% of the world’s human population. Continue reading →
I know little about his background but all I know is this guy started from humble beginnings. Grew up in Lambunao a small town in Philippines having only a point and shoot camera and few Airline magazines for inspiration this fella’ manage to make it to be one of the best known photographers in the international scene.
Some purist photographers might raise their eyebrows when others (including me) talks about post-processing in photography. Some say it’s graphic design not photography; some might say it’s against what they new about “natural” photography; some crazy people might say that it’s the way of the devil (just kidding) and the ranting goes on and on. Most professional photographers doesn’t do image retouching but their photo ends up on a poster, magazine or books retouched anyways (the irony of life). There are professionals that do the retouching or post processing for photographers like Natalia Taffarel and she is the best of what she does. Okay you might hate me for saying this but post-processing, retouching or editing your photos gives you and your photos identity (in a very distinctive way). Now we’re on the digital era a lot of competition out there who’s eager to pound everything that you can do and offer so instead of hiring a graphic artist/designer you have to do your own retouching, besides you don’t want your ugly photos ending up on the wrong hands do you? (hehehe). Enough of my babbling. I was ask to support a friend for this workshop and I believe that pros and new comers in photography and also graphic designers will learn a lot from this so I post it here on my blog. I, myself will attend on this once in a lifetime opportunity to meet Natalia Taffarel because I’ve heard that she seldom do workshops in Asia so wherever you are hope you could come!!!
Learn more about Natalia Taffarel and how she started photo retouching from a hobby to a full blown career. I Admire people like her because most of what she does now are all self-thought. There is no special magic to this – it’s all about dedication and love of what you are doing.
